Introduction to Postproduction: Film & Media Literacy

My own update to this course at the University of Alabama. While changes in software and technology necessitate frequent updates to this type of instruction, the craft and approach to editing film and video remains consistent. It’s important for students to understand this, and I developed my course to strike the balance between using a specific program and following the conventions this art.

Introduction to Assistive Technology

One of my favorite courses to produce reunited me with an old friend. In my early teaching career, Elizabeth Stewart asked if I would host some of her students from the UA CrossingPoints program in my media production classes. The experience was beneficial to the CrossingPoints students, the other students, and for me as an educator. Several years later, I got to help Elizabeth produce media for her online Assistive Technology course. She invited the unstoppable, one-of-a-kind force of nature, Hank Poore to help introduce the course modules. We had a little fun with this one, since they are both Auburn fans but the course is for the University of Alabama.

The project involved creating media to promote the course and encourage students to enroll, as well as a series of discussions between the professors from both universities.
